42 Years of Building Community

40 Years of Building CommunityThe Shopper's Guide was founded in 1968, by Eunice and John Raifstanger, Sr., to connect buyers and sellers in the Southern Berkshires and Northern Connecticut - to provide a useful service to this community at a fair price.

Today, with the lowest per column inch rate in the area and a circulation guaranteed by direct mail, the Shopper's Guide is the best value and most effective way for businesses to reach consumers in the tri-state area.

While we are proud of our business ads, we are equally committed to, and proud of, the classified ads placed by local people to reach other local people. These classifieds, which offer a snapshot of the way people in our community go about their daily lives, are truely at the heart of the Shopper's Guide.

The Shopper's Guide remains a family owned buisness, with Robin (Raifstanger) Hare acting - as she likes to say - as CCB (Chief Cook and Bottle Washer.

To find out more about the past, present and future of the Shopper's Guide we invite you to enjoy "40 Years of Building Commmunity" (pdf) by local author Marjorie Conners Palmer, which appeared in a recent issue of the "Shopper."
